William 'Fritz' Amator
William L. "Fritz" Amator, 72, of Tolleson died Feb. 12, 2005.

Mr. Amator was born Aug. 1, 1932, in Phoenix. He grew up in Tolleson and graduated from Tolleson Union High School in 1950.

While helping his parents, Bert and Alice Amator, with the family dairy, Mr. Amator worked for the Caterpillar Co., where he was employed for 25 years. Following his retirement, Mr. Amator purchased and worked a parcel of land near the location of his family's farm.

Mr. Amator was a 50-year member of the St. John's Irrigation Co., and served as its president the past 10 years.

He is survived by his wife, Janette; three daughters, Kim Grandy of Buckeye, Piper Jenkins of Peoria and Tricia Beattie of Phoenix; two sons, Lonnie Amator of Peoria and Brett Amator of Los Angeles; two step-sons, Steve Brisbin of California and Tracy Brisbin of Peoria; one sister, Eva Martin of Avondale; three brothers, Gene Amator of Springerville, Glen Amator of Goodyear and Bert Amator of Oracle; 25 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at First Southern Baptist Church, 1001 N. Central Ave. in Avondale. A service will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Clay McGuire will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix.
