Fred Vernon Gillette

Fred Vernon Gillette, 59, of Superior died Dec. 29, 2007, in Mesa. He was born in Miami and was a lifelong Arizona resident.

After graduating from high school, he worked on several ranches before going to work as an underground surveyor for Magma Copper and BHP Copper in Superior and San Manueal, a position he held for 27 years. After the mines closed, he went to work as a security guard for AKLA Security in Florence.

He is survived by his wife, Janell Gillette of Superior; a daughter, Loria Gillette of Apache Junction; son, Michael Gillette of Flagstaff; a brother, Louie Gillette of Landen, Wyo.; and sister, Frankie Gillette of Superior.


Funeral service was conducted Jan. 5 at Maranatha Baptist Church. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery in Superior.
