James Robert McLennan, 71, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7.

The service was held at 2 p.m. Monday (Oct. 12) at All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road, Fort Worth, Texas. Interment followed at Hood Family Cemetery in Aledo, Texas. Visitation was held Sunday (Oct. 11) at Biggers Funeral Home. A reception followed the funeral service at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Dustin Payne.

Pallbearers were Bobby Patton, Wayne Middleton, Jimmy Martin, Mike Gammage, Robin Whitson and Rob Meyers; honorary pallbearers were Jim Miller, Dick Moore, Bob Gordon, Don White, Bill Winkler, Jack Crowley, James Lemons and Jerry Thomas.

James was born in Haskell County, Texas, on Jan. 2, 1938 to his parents Betty Faye and Wallace McLennan.

The family moved to Lake Worth in 1942. James finished Lake Worth High School at the age of 16 and attended Arlington State College.

During his life, he was a real estate developer, oil company owner, and a mining metallurgist. He and his wife Jackie lived in Wickenburg for 13 years when he began his mining company. They made wonderful friends and memories before moving back to Fort Worth in 2002. He enjoyed frequent gatherings with friends and family where he prepared the most incredible meals on his outdoor barbecue.

James will be remembered as a bright, innovative, determined optimist with a big loving heart, kind spirit and a great sense of humor who always put his family first.

Survivors include his wife Jackie of Fort Worth; daughter Kimberly Payne and husband Dustin of Fort Worth; sons Bruce McLennan and wife Caroline of Fort Worth, Jim McLennan and wife Lesa of Pedenville, Jay McLennan and partner Scott Cook of Dallas; sister Glenda Smith and husband Tommy of Fort Worth; brother Bodie McLennan and wife Suzanne of Fort Worth; grandchildren Hood Whitson of Los Angeles, Calif., Kristen Cole and husband Tommy of Dallas, and Alexandra McLennan of Kermit; nieces Kelly Smith of Fort Worth, and Ashley McLennan of Weatherford; nephews Matt McLennan and wife Kayla of Gruver, and Thom Smith and wife Bridgett of Aledo; as well as grandnieces, nephews, many cousins and loving friends.
