The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ October 21, 2009, p. A17 Lois E. Kennedy passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009. She was born Feb. 24, 1929 in Stady, N.D., the daughter of Maurice and Edna Montgomery. Lois grew up in the area and graduated from Williston High School in 1946. After high school, she met and married Howard Kennedy on June 7, 1949. Lois and Howard lived in many places throughout their 60-year marriage -- Williston, N.D.; Great Falls, Mont.; Fargo, N.D.; Wayzeta, Minn.; Overland Park, Kansas; Burley, Idaho; Bullhead City, Ariz.; and the last 21 years in Wickenburg. They have also spent their last 51 summers at their home on Big Bull Island on Flathead Lake, Polson, Mont. Lois is survived by her loving husband Howard; and her two children Kevin (Linda) of Basehor, Kansas, and Coleen Nelson Kennedy of Great Falls, Mont. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Christopher Kennedy (Sarah) of Olathe, Kansas, Justin Kennedy of New York City, N.Y., Cole Nelson of Great Falls, Mont., and Brandee Nelson of Great Falls, Mont.; one great-granchild Owen Kennedy of Olathe, Kansas; and a sister Janis Rossell (Charles) of Great Falls, Mont. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dwight Montgomery and Roger Montgomery. A celebration of her life was held Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg. The family request memorials be sent to the church, 180 N. Adams St., Wickenburg, AZ 85390. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister and will be missed not only by her family but also by dear friends she met along the way.
