Marine Brother of Mrs. B. M. Anderson Killed in Action

Tragic news reached Mrs. B. M. Anderson of Wickenburg Wednesday telling of the death of her brother, Floyd Lee Hughes, killed in action aboard ship in the South Pacific while serving with the United States Marine Corps. Mrs. Anderson left immediately for El Paso, Texas, to be with her father and mother. Her sister, Mrs. R. M. Stamper, who had been spending her vacation here, accompanied Mrs. Anderson to El Paso.

Floyd Lee Hughes had served in the Marine Corps for more than two years and was a veteran of both the Guadalcanal and Kiska campaigns. He attended high school in El Paso where he was living at the time he entered the service.

Other than it was an explosion the nature of the accident aboard ship was not disclosed. Mrs. Anderson has the deepest sympathy of her many friends in Wickenburg.
