Leon (Bud) Turner

Leon "Bud" Turner, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away March 14th. Bud was born March 19, 1923 in Statesville, N.C., and moved with his parents to Virginia until he joined the Navy at age 17.

He served in the South Pacific during WWII. After his service, Bud attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, graduating with a degree in agriculture & dairy technology. He then moved to Chicago, accepting a position with the Borden Dairy as a chemist. Bud moved to Denver in 1953, joining the Hurley Company in sales. After a few years with Hurley, Bud branched out on his own & started Turner Sales Co. representing several dairy manufacturers. Bud raised his family in Denver.

In 1985, Bud moved to Phoenix to marry Marcie, the love of his life. A true romantic, in 16 years Bud never missed celebrating a "month-a-versary" with his bride. His love for her was an inspiration to everyone they met, both stranger and friend. Bud loved his family. He was so very proud of his grandchildren, as they were the apple of his eye. His second family included his dog Gretta & his wild birds & raccoons whom he loved and cared for on the mountain. Bud's passion was golfing with Marcie & his buddies at the Phoenix Country Club. He loved to play golf in Flagstaff at Aspen Valley where his new home was he loved. Bud and his infectious humor & silly jokes will be missed by all.

Bud is survived by his wife Marcie; his daughter Linda Dee and her husband Mike; his son Stephen & his wife Linda; his brother Charles Turner; his stepdaughters Julie Newcomb & Susan Ladra & her husband, Mike; grandchildren John & Lisa Dee, Michael & Kristin Turner, Dan Roether, Jodi & Tim Whittemore, Lindsay Newcomb, John & Jennifer Ladra & great-granddaughter, Chloe Whittemore.

There was a viewing for friends & family on Sun. March 18, 2001, at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary on 7th Ave. & Bethany Home Road. A celebration of his life washeld on Mon. March 19th, 2001, at First United Methodist Church on Central & Missouri.

Graveside services & a reception at the Phoenix Country Club followed the funeral.
