Elsie Muriel Walker Murphey, 98, of Kingman, Ariz., born July 11, 1911, in Los Angeles, Calif., passed away Oct. 28, 2009, at The Gardens Care Center, Kingman.

Burial will be at Desert Lawns Memorial Gardens, 9250 S. Rancho Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz.

Funeral arrangements are by Desert Lawn Funeral Home.

Elsie Muriel Walker Murphey, 98, of Kingman passed away Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at The Gardens Care Center. She came to Kingman six years ago from Fort Mohave.

Elsie was born July 11, 1911, in Los Angeles to Edward and Ivy (Brooks) Walker. She married Floyd Murphey in September 1929 in Prescott. They moved to Fort Mohave in 1971 after Floyd retired.

Elsie is survived by her son, James (Nora) Murphey of Chino Valley; sister, Fay Webster of Cottonwood; grandchildren, Jackie (David) Brent of Chino Valley, Burt Murphey of Kirkland, Ariz., Wanda (Lonnie) Bennett of Los Luna, N.M., Audra (Tom) Bowers of Kingman and Beverly (David) Horn of Nacogdoches, Texas. Elsie had 13 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Floyd Murphey; son, Raymond Murphey; parents, Edward and Ivy (Brooks) Walker; sisters, Margie, Enid, Dorothy; and brothers, Ted and Robert.

Elsie will always be remembered for her wonderful laugh and sense of humor. She always loved a good joke. The family would like to say thank you very much to The Gardens Care Center in Kingman for taking such loving care of our beloved mother/grandmother, Elsie, for the past six years. A very special thank you to the staff that loved Elsie the most. You know who you are!

Funeral arrangements are by Desert Lawn Funeral Home. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 on Saturday, Oct. 31. Burial will be at Desert Lawns Memorial Gardens, 9250 S. Rancho Lane, Mohave Valley.
