Lynda C. DeBerry, 62, of Phoenix died Oct. 9, 2004.

Ms. DeBerry was born Aug. 24, 1942, in Detroit. In 1947, she and her family moved to Phoenix, where they opened a Dairy Queen restaurant on Northern and 19th avenues.

After graduating in 1960 from Washington High School, Ms. DeBerry earned a teaching degree from Utah State University in 1975. She taught home economics at Mesa Junior High School and later at Agua Fria Union High School.

In 1985, Ms. DeBerry became a librarian, continuing to work at Agua Fria High and later at Buckeye Elementary School. In 1996, she earned a master's degree in education and served as the librarian at Millennium High School.

Ms. DeBerry is survived by three sons, Shaun, Shane and Shannon Arnold; one brother, Ted DeBerry; former husband, Bill Arnold; and six grandchildren.

A service was held Oct. 16 [2004] at Best Funeral Home in Peoria. A graveside service followed at Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Park in Buckeye.

Best Funeral Home made the arrangements.
