Isabel (Chavela) (Betancourt) Provencio

Isabel 'Chavela' Betancourt Provencio 76, formerly of San Manuel, went to be with our Lord on January 11, 2008.

She was born to the late Pedro and Fedencia Betancourt on December 23, 1931, in Fierro, New Mexico.

She married Leonardo Peru Provencio in 1952, and they lived together in the Silver City, NM area before relocating to San Manuel in 1957 and eventually to Picture Rocks in 1976.

She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She loved the outdoors and loved going "camping" with all her family. She always enjoyed watching her "novellas" and watching as many Diamondback games as she could.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leo Provencio; three children, Ramona (Bill) Romero, of Mammoth, Margaret (Danny) Gastelum, of San Manuel, and Lisa (Rocky) Quirino, of Phoenix; six grandchildren, Evette (Abel) Porras, of Queen Creek, Billy (Nora) Romero, of Tucson, Greg Romero, of Oracle, Robert Dominguez, of Picture Rocks, Mona Lisa (Miguel) Rodriguez, of Tucson, Eddie Quirino, of Phoenix, and Corina Gastelum of San Manuel; eight great-grandchildren, A.J., Cassandra, Jeweliette, Gregory, Miguelito, Lluvia, Nikki and Victor.

She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Joe (Tina) Betancourt, Lupe Carrasco, Amelia Bejarano and sisters-in-law, Celia Betancourt and Beatrice Betancourt.

She is preceded in death by parents, Pedro and Fedencia Betancourt; brothers, Pete, Jesus, and Tony Betancourt and sister, Frances Rascon.

Rosary is scheduled for 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Mammoth, AZ.

Mass is scheduled 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 16, 2008.
