Cecil O. Pendergast

Cecil O. Pendergast, 68, of Goodyear, died Nov. 10, 2004.

Mr. Pendergast was born Dec, 17, 1935, in Phoenix on his parents’ dairy farm on 91st Avenue near Indian School Road. He was a member of the pioneering West Valley family for which the Pendergast Elementary School District is named.

After graduating from Tolleson High School in 1953, Mr. Pendergast served two years in the Army, and in 1959 graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor of science degree in farm management. He was employed for 36 years by Salt River Project as an agricultural specialist.

Mr. Pendergast is survived by his wife, Patricia; one daughter, Gabrielle Gillespie; one son, Cecil O. Pendergast III; two sisters, Beth Nosenzo and Laurel Dawn Smith; his aunt and uncle, Ruel and Ezell Cochran; and four grandchildren.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Menke Funeral Home, 12420 N. 103rd Ave. in Sun City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix AZ 85016.
