Black's Mortuary, Show Low, Arizona Eugene James Quinlan (October 11, 1926 - November 2, 2009) Eugene James Quinlan, 83, of St. Johns, died in his home on Monday, November 2, 2009. He was born October 11, 1926 in South Amboy, NJ, the son of Thomas John and Catherine Elizabeth Quinlan. He worked for his uncle before joining the United States Navy and serving during World War II. He married two wonderful ladies, Wilhelmina Holden in 1950 and LaNeta Higley in 1970. He worked for Salt River Project in Mesa and St. Johns and Kennecott Copper Corporation in Hayden. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the White Mountain Base-Sub-Vets and the American Legion Post 86. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Bishopric, Wet Pack Cannery Instructor, Secretary of the Sunday School, Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader. He was a member of the St. Johns Meadows Ward. He enjoyed working on his pottery art, stamp collecting and cooking for many church and family affairs. He is survived by his children, Dennis Eugene Quinlan of Roosevelt, LaNeta June Kirk of St. Johns, Marilyn Sale of Tempe, Barbara Crothers of Mesa and Carol Tenney of Show Low. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a brother, Gerard Joseph Quinlan of Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 wives, Wilhelmina Holden Quinlan and LaNeta Higley Quinlan; 2 children, Beth Anne and Paul James Quinlan; a grandson, David Henry Kirk; 9 older brothers and a sister, Matthew Sylvester, John Francis, Thomas John, Joseph, Dennis Charles and David Edmond Quinlan, Catherine Elizabeth Kavchak, James M., Robert John, Francis Luke and Alfred John Quinlan. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 5, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pioneer Chapel 8th Ward in Snowflake, with viewing one hour prior to services. Viewing will also be held at the St. Johns Stake Center on Wednesday, November 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Interment will be at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsey Memorial Cemetery in Snowflake.
