Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Friday, July 21, 1950 DEATH COMES TO WILLIAM DYKEMA William P. Dykema, resident of Wickenburg for the past five years and widely known in this section of the state for may years as an engineer and mining man, passed away Sunday morning, July 16, at community Hospital. He had been in ill health for a number of years. Born in Grand Rapids, Mich., December 28, 1889, Mr. Dykema was graduated from Michigan College of Mines at Houghton as a mining engineer. Soon thereafter he came to Arizona where he was connected with mining activities at Bagdad and Octave. Later he opened an assay office in Salome. While located in that Yuma county community he was married to Alice Dill, a winter visitor from Pennsylvania. She is the only close survivor. Mr. Dykema gave up mining entirely in 1914 and went with the U. S. Government as a petroleum engineer. He built gasoline plants in Texas following his service with the government. Funeral services were held Monday evening of this week at 7 o'clock from the Wickenburg Chapel with the Rev. Truman Boyd, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mrs. Dykema's sister, Mrs. J. H. Raney, and Mr. Raney came to Wickenburg from their home in Los Angeles about a week prior to Mr. Dykema's death and are continuing their visit here. The Dykema home for the last past two years has been in a rental house on the H. E. Dunkin property in Fox Addition. See Also: Find A Grave |
