Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Friday, March 20, 1953 FUNERAL OF MRS DILLARD HELD HERE LAST SUNDAY. SHE PASSED AWAY MARCH 12 FOLLOWING LONG ILLNESS. Funeral services were held at the Wickenburg Chapel Sunday at 4 p. m. for Mrs. Gertrude Forbes Dillard, wife of George Dillard of Casa Grande, Ariz., mother of Mrs Ella Weimer and Mrs Vivian Mickelson of Wickenburg. A long-time resident of the Wickenburg community, Mrs. Dillard passed away last Thursday, March 12, in Phoenix, following a long illness. Mrs. Dillard was born in El Paso, Tex., on April 24, 1889, and was married to Mr. Dillard in August, 1909. They came to the Castle Hot Springs country and for many years had resided in Wickenburg and vicinity. REV. PATE OFFICIATED The services at the Chapel here Sunday were conducted by Rev Billie Pate of the First Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were Alvin Purdy, Gust Matson, E. B. Ashurst, Robert B. Livengood and Howard L. Coffinger, all of Wickenburg, and Leroy Norman of Casa Grande. OTHER SURVIVORS Besides her husband and the two daughters here, Mrs Dillard is survived by four sons, Jack, of Williams; George, Jr., Manhattan, Nev., Edwin, Casa Grande, and Pfc Clifford, who is with the United States Occupational Forces in Germany. A third daughter, Mrs Francis Pfeil, resides in Montebello, Calif. Also surviving are two brothers, W. P. Forbes of Flint, Mich. Two surviving sisters are Mrs M. E. Harmon of Tipton, Calif., and Mrs A. F. Blackburn of Grand Island, Neb. There are 12 surviving grandchildren and two great grandchildren. See Also: Find A Grave |
