| The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ February 5, 2003, p. A11 John W. McCarty Jr., 65, passed away Jan. 31, 2003 in Peoria. John was born August 20, 1937 in Kansas Ciyt, kan. He and Janice moved to Wickenburg 10 years ago from Vista, Calif. John worked for the Vista Irrigation District as a Systems Operator for 35 years. He was instrumental in helping to organize and start the YMCA in Vista and worked as a volunteer firefighter in Oceanside. John was very active with the children and young adults in Wickenburg and Elk’s Lodge No. 2160. He was Elk of the Year fin 2002, Youth Committee Chairman for eight years, Youth and History, Youth and Government and Teen Court. He worked with Wickenburg Alliance Against Substance Abuse. John is survived by his wife Janice; children Robert McCarty, Richard McCarty, Candice McCarty, Fred Gunther, Christ Gunther, Don Quick, Larry Quick, Michelle Marlin, Cathy Corda and Eric Riley; brother Art Mathis; sisters Mary Azbell and Maxine Nork; sixteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers send contributions to the Wickenburg Elk’s Youth Fund. Visitation will be held at Frey Funeral Home, Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Mount Hope Assembly of God church at 500 Penn Lane in Wickenburg. |
