Jack left the University to go to Arizona after he and two brothers bought a ranch there. Upon the sale of the ranch, Jack remained in the Wickenburg area for several years where he worked as a wrangler at the Flying E as well as on the famous Desert Caballeros Ride held annually from Wickenburg. He ranched in Arizona, Colorado, and Montana, before returning home to Sheridan. He enjoyed photography, cowboy poetry, sports, and spending time at his home on Cox Valley Road. He was active in Jack Pot Rodeos and assisted as a timer for the rodeos. Jack was a lifetime Sheridan Booster Club member, and was a member of the first Boys State Group from Sheridan to go to Washington, D.C., in 1946. He was a member of the After 50 Club in Sheridan and the Elks Lodge in Wickenburg.
