Carol Maxine Celaya

Carol Maxine Celaya was born May 14, 1925 in Hobb, Ind., then moved to New Mexico in 1935. In 1942 she married and lived on the Diamond Cross Ranch where she had four of her children. In 1953 she moved to California where the family farmed and raised cattle. In 1961 she remarried and had her fifth child. She worked for the Retail Clerks Union as a bookkeeper for years before moving to Wickenburg in 1975. After working for several local businesses in and around Wickenburg, she retired to pursue her love of crafts, gardening and family.

Her legacy is her family whom she was so proud of: Roy Gardner (Debbie), K'lyn Gardner, B'Ann Gardner-Spurgeon, Sharon Gardner-Lacy (Lamont) and Cindy Celaya.

Grandchildren: Shawn and Shane Gardner, Mark and Landon Thompson, Codi Spurgeon-Tidwell, Christine Lacy, Cami Cressman, Janise, Cory and Justin Carr.

Great grandchildren: John, Taylor, Austin and Cheyene (Shane), Katie and Toby (Landon), Wyatt (Codi), Kainan (Cami). She also leaves behind long time friend Beth Smalley.

Private family services have been held. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice of Arizona, Freedom Plaza Center, 13714 Plaza Del Rio Blvd., Peoria, AZ 85381. Freedom Plaza Hospice Center went above and beyond the call of duty in helping our mother in her last days and providing comfort to her family.

Please join the family for a memorial service March 1, 2003 at 3 p.m. at the Wickenburg Elks Lodge to celebrate and remember our mother/grandmother's life.
