Sandra Jean Steele, 46, of San Carlos, Ariz., passed away on Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 at Scottsdale Healthcare. She was born in Superior, Ariz. on June 21, 1963, the daughter of Riley and Leah Steele.

She was a detention officer and employed by the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

She is survived by sons, John Steel and Wally Nosie, both of San Carlos, Ariz.; Michael Key of Peridot, Ariz.; and Nathan Little of San Carlos, Ariz.; daughter, Christina Dazen of San Carlos, Ariz.; brothers, William A. Steele and Riley D. Steele, both of Peridot, Ariz.; David L. Steele of Ft. Defiance, Ariz.; and Elbert Polk Jr. and Levi Nosie, both of Peridot, Ariz.; sisters, Carol H. Slim, Angela Boni, Christy Polk, Feather Nosie, and Blessing Nosie, all of Peridot, Ariz.; father, Riley Steele of Peridot, Ariz.; and one grandchild.

A wake was held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Steele residence, #6 Indian Hills in San Carlos. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in San Carlos. Interment took place at Upper Peridot Cemetery in Peridot, Ariz.

Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family.
