Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa Wednesday, November 22, 2000 WILLIS ANDERSON, Arizona Willis Haines Anderson, 79, of Sun City West, Ariz., died Nov. 17, 2000, at Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Robert Barrick officiating. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the First United Methodist Church with the family present from 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Willis Anderson was born May 5, 1921, to Harry and Winnie (Haines) Anderson of Winterset. He was raised in Winterset and had attended Iowa State University for two years. He also had resided in Lewiston, Idaho, and Grand Forks, N.D., before moving to Sun City West in 1985. Willis was retired, having owned a Ben Franklin Store in Grand Forks. He also had owned two Bonanza restaurants for several years, one in North Dakota and one in Idaho. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he married Marjorie Cowden on Dec. 2, 1956, in Winterset. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge in Grand Forks and "The Prides" service organization. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Sally Morris (husband Sterling) of Winterset; a son, Mark Anderson of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Alice Young (husband George) of Paonia, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. |
