West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona December 13, 2005 Ellen Sanford, 92, of Buckeye died Dec. 7, 2005, at the Sunbridge Estrella Care Center in Avondale. Mrs. Sanford was born Sept. 5, 1913, in Aspermont, Texas. She first came to Arizona from Texas in 1964 and settled in Williams with her husband, Douglas. A master cook, Mrs. Sanford worked for several restaurants before retiring to Texas in 1976. She moved to Buckeye in 1999 after her husband’s death, and had been a resident at Sunbridge Care Center about five years. Mrs. Sanford was preceded in death in 1998 by her husband of 52 years, Douglas. She is survived by three daughters, Glenda Marie Stephenson, Wanda Jean Young and Delores Dixon, all of Texas; five sons Donald Ray Davis of Buckeye and John, Gerald, Ronald and Garland “Butch” Sanford, all of Texas: one sister, Luedell Dean of Texas; two brothers, Caroll Mitchell of Texas and Elmo “Pat” Preston of New Mexico; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A service was held Dec. 12, 2005, at Ganley’s Buckeye Funeral Home in Buckeye. The Revs. Charles Goraieb and Terry Reed officiated. Interment will be in Lemesa, Texas.
