| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona 10/30/2009 Mary Magdalene Bennett, 77, died early Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Webb's Adult Care Home in Snowflake following a lengthy illness. She was born March 8, 1932, in Clarksburg, Ky., to the late William A. and Martha Myrtle (Oliver) Markel. Mary moved to Arizona from her native Kentucky more than 62 years ago. She graduated from Parker High School in 1952. Following her marriage she became and was a devoted homemaker to her family throughout her life. Mary is survived by her children, William "Bill" McCarty (Patricia) of Snowflake, Cynthia (Curtis) Hoeppner of Grand Prairie, Texas; daughter-in-law Julie McCarty of Carlsbad, N.M.; brother Joe (Susan) Markel of Carlsbad, N.M.; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bennett (2002), son Steve McCarty (May 2009) and one grandson. Private family services will be held. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
