Arthur Hernandez Pulliam

Arthur Hernandez Pulliam, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.

He was born in Chihuahua, Mexico where he grew up and lived until he entered the U.S. Navy to help defend his country during WWII. He was a radio operator in the Pacific Theater on the U.S.S. Skirmish.

After the war he met Anna Mae Silvas in Los Angeles, California. They were married Dec. 24, 1948 and raised four beautiful children in California. Arthur was employed as a car inspector for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 31 years. In 1981 they moved to Heber to retire.

In his spare time, Arthur enjoyed watching his favorite TV programs, reading books, fishing and especially loved teasing his wife, Anna. He loved everyone who walked through his door unconditionally and catered to them in any way he could. Arthur will be dearly missed.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anna Mae Pulliam; son, Push Pulliam of Mesa; three daughters, Julie (Manuel) Apalategui of Pico Rivera, California, Gracie (Ed) Woods of Heber, Rosie Pulliam of Rialto, California; six grandchildren, Manuel, Michelle, Matthew, Laurel, Baylee, Jessyka; five great-grandchildren, Richard, Zach, Joseph, Andrew, Natalie; two sisters, Anna Beecroft of Vernon, Matilda (Milo) Kartchner of Overgaard.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption in Overgaard. Visitation with a Rosary were held Monday, Nov. 15 at the church.

Interment will be in the Heber Cemetery.
