The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 11/06/2009 Manuel Fuentes, 45, of Taylor died in Show Low Oct. 28, 2009. He was born April 19, 1964, in Villa Hidalgo Mexico to the late Silvino Fuentes and Avelina Flores. He was the oldest of five children. After living in Mexico for 19 years, Manuel moved to Costa Mesa, Calif., for two years. He then moved back to Villa Hidalgo, Mexico, and married Adela Santana. For the next three years they moved back and forth, between Mexico and the United States. They had two children, Victor and Carolina Fuentes. After their children were born, they moved to Arizona and lived in Safford while Manuel worked at a chinese restaurant. After working there for several years, Manuel decided to move to Taylor to fill his dream and opened the Chinese Plaza Restaurant. In his spare time, Manuel loved the outdoors. He also enjoyed the spring/summer months because he loved the Arizona Diamondbacks. He always watched their games and attended the games in person at least one time per season. In the 16 years Manuel lived in Arizona, he made many close friends. He will be deeply missed by all. Manuel is survived by his wife, Adela Fuentes; two children, Victor and Carolina Fuentes; mother Avelina Fuentes of Villa Hidalgo, Mexico; brothers Alberto (Marina) Fuentes of California, Alfredo (Ramona) of Taylor; sisters Belen Fuentes (Raul) Delgadillo of Villa Hidalgo, Mexico, and Adela Fuentes of Villa Hidalgo, Mexico; and several nieces and nephews. A viewing was held at Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor Friday, Oct. 30, and a funeral Mass was held Saturday, Oct. 31, at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Snowflake. Interment was held at Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor. Arrangements were handled by Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor.
