White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona 07/07/2009 Beulah "Bobbie" Ann Ashcroft Bowdoin, 77, of Ahwatukee died July 4, 2009, in Phoenix after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 7, 1932, in Eagar to Beulah and Wallace Ashcroft. The oldest of seven children. Bobbie was a third-generation native of Arizona. She retired as a second grade teacher after over 33 years, primarily in the Scottsdale School District. She had a wide range of interests, including hiking, piano, active in the LDS church, providing membership support for the Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society and having "great adventures." She had countless friends and relatives who will all miss her joyous spirit, strength of character and selfless manner. She leaves many loving family members, including her husband of 58 years, Dean; daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Mick James; grandson J.D. James (all of Phoenix); brothers LaVerl (Nona) Ashcroft and Ross (Lucille) Ashcroft of Eagar; sisters Sharon (Darrow) Richins of Animas, N.M., Susan (Larry) Martin of Eagar and Wallis (Glen) Mayhew of Tokyo, Japan; and sister-in-law Elaine Ashcroft (Phillip) of Mesa. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Phil. She was preceded in death by her daughter Deana Lynne in 1978. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Ahwatukee First Ward with a visitation at 8:30 a.m. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Eagar cemetery.
