Dorthella (Dot) (Bigelow) Staehlin

Dorthella Bigelow "Merrill" Staehlin was called home to our Heavenly Father's side June 23, 2007.

She was born in Eagar (Amity) on Oct. 22, 1931. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked in the Primary and the Relief Society for many years.

Dorthella was best known as Dot to all who knew her. She was and always will be a beloved mother and grandmother. She spent her life in the service of her family and friends. She loved painting, ceramics and sewing. Her best times were spent with her children and family in the mountains camping and enjoying the fresh air.

Dot is survived by her children, Crest (LaRee) Merrill, Melanie (Darrell) Wyckoff, Rocky (Karen) Merrill and Tyla Merrill, all of Eagar; stepchildren Marsha (Lenard) Johnson and Marla McCue of Phoenix, David (Debbie) Staehlin of Friday Harbor, Wash., and Alan Staehlin, Albuquerque, N.M.; 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Jay Grant Merrill, son Gerick Ike Merrill, second husband Al C. Staehlin, parents Joseph and Dorthella Bigelow, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services for Dorthella were held Wednesday, June 27, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center. A visitation was held Tuesday evening, June 26, at Burnham Mortuary.

Interment was at Eagar City Cemetery.

Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements.
