Willcox Range News, Willcox, Arizona Wednesday, March 23, 2005 "Guadalupe 'Lupe' Verdugo Vargas 1937-2005 Guadalupe 'Lupe' Verdugo Vargas, of Willcox, died March 17, 2005, surrounded by his family at the age of 68. He was born in Phoenix on Jan. 28, 1937, to Guadalupe and Virginia (Verdugo) Vargas. Lupe served in the U.S. Army Artillery Battalion for three years, drove trucks for 43 years, starting out self-employed and then driving for companies throughout Arizona. He has lived in Willcox for 37 years. Survivors include his wife Henrietta of Willcox; daughters Virginia (Mark) Fricke of Goodyear, Yolanda (Danny) Regnier of Willcox, Lupita (Jason) Kenyon of El Mirage; sons Rudy (Shelley) Verdugo of Willcox, John (Mary) Verdugo of Albuquerque, N.M., and Armando Vargas of Grover Beach, Calif. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; along with his sisters Hilda (Lito) Bueno of Superior, Nena (George) of Superior; and brother Raul Vargas of San Diego, Calif. Preceding him in death was his parents, and a son, Arturo. Memorial services and Rosary were held Saturday, March 19, at 3 p.m. at Westlawn Chapel. Funeral Mass was held on Monday, March 21, in Superior, with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Superior. Contributions may be made to the Charles Wm Leighton, Jr. Hospice, 319 W. Grant, Willcox, Ariz., 85643. Services were under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox." See Also: Find A Grave |
