Sidney "Sid" Duane Moore, 75, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at his home in Winslow. For some time, he had been in declining health, but he fought it and enjoyed his life.

Mr. Moore was born in Jay County, Portland, Ind., in 1943, to Jim and Julia Moore, the oldest of three boys in the family. Almost his entire working life, he was involved in auto body repair and paint. For 36 years, he and his wife, Phyllis ran their business, Sid's Auto Body, in Mesa. In 1996, they semi-retired and moved to Winslow to be near their sons and families. Mr. Moore worked part time for several years until injuries prevented him from doing so.

What he enjoyed most was being with this family. He also loved bluegrass music and was an accomplished musician in his younger years, playing the guitar, banjo and fiddle. He enjoyed the simplicity of bluegrass and the messages it sent about family, honesty and ethics.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis; sons Sidney of Winslow, and Kavin (Vivien) of Flagstaff; brother Dale Moore of Portland, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son James and his younger brother, Robert Moore.

Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greer's Mortuary Chapel in Winslow. Condolences can be sent at www.greers mortuary.com.
