Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Friday, January 11, 1952, p. 1 Services Thursday for John Kellis were conducted by the Masons and the Rev. Bellie Pate. Funeral services were conducted at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Wickenburg Chapel for John Kellis, long time local resident who died in Community Hospital early Monday morning. The Masonic Lodge, of which Mr. Kellis was a member, and the Rev. Billie Pate, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducted the services. Burial was in Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Kellis was born March 20, 1894, in Sterling City, Texas. He came to Wickenburg with his parents in 1907 and has lived here since. He was the son of A. J. Kellis who died four years ago and of Mrs. Kellis who died eight years ago. Thirty-four years ago he was married to Vina Helm who survives. Mr. Kellis, who lived on South Jefferson Street, was a mechanic and miner and was well known throughout the community. He had been ill for the past two years. He was a brother of Bennie Kellis who was killed in action in World War I and was one of the two local soldiers for whom Kellis-Draper Post of the American legion was named. The Survivors Surviving are the widow, four brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Jim of Gold Hill, Ore.; Floyd of Eugene, Ore,; Gilbert of Bagdad; and William S. of Wickenburg. The sisters are Mrs. Hattie B. Hannon of Sierraville, Calif., and Mrs Nora Young of Redlands, Calif. See Also: Find A Grave |
