Sylvia P. (Nelmes) Scott

Sylvia P. Scott passed away on Nov. 3, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Aug. 5, 1931, in Wickwar, England, to Frank and Anne Nelmes. She grew up in England and then moved to America with her family in 1950 to Prescott. Sylvia became a member of the First Baptist Church of Prescott where she served faithfully in many areas with Sunday School, the Nursery and Choir. Sylvia is survived by her loving, caregiving husband, Gordon Scott, who has spent many years truly caring for Sylvia's needs. This year they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

She is also survived by her two sons, Robbin D. Scott (Dominique) of Prescott Valley and Steven Scott of Phoenix; her grandsons Brian (Nicki), Todd (Richelle) and Daniel of Texas, her granddaughter Stephanie Scott of Prescott Valley, her great-granddaughter Katarina Ford of Texas and her step-grandchildren Thomas Higa of Phoenix and Stephanie Higa of Prescott Valley.

Additional survivors include her sisters, Christine Webb of Prescott and Enid Hollister of Wotton, England; her brothers, David Nelmes (Margie) of California and Ronald Nelmes (Hazel) of Wickwar, England; and numerous nieces and nephews in the U.S. and in England.


Her loving, caring disposition and sense of humor will always be remembered with love. We will always be thankful for Sylvia's life and love to all of us. She will always be remembered.

Funeral services to be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Prescott. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to First Baptist Church of Prescott's Nursery fund in Sylvia Scott's name.
