Black's Mortuary Show Low, Arizona Thomas B. Weddle (December 26, 1926 - November 7, 2009) Thomas B. Weddle, 82, of Lakeside, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009, at a Mesa hospital. He was born December 12, 1926, at Ballinger, Texas, the son of Marvin and Tina (Jackson) Weddle. The family moved to Safford when he was of a young age. His father passed away when Thomas was 13 and he helped raise his 8 siblings. He blazed the Coronado Trail at ages 13 to 16. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was married to his fourth wife, Zona Bowman on April 18, 1959 at Safford. He worked for Magma Copper Company for 26 years, retiring in 1977. He also farmed and ranched. He enjoyed music, fishing, camping and hunting, playing guitar and writing songs. He was very family oriented and believed in the old fashioned virtues of family raising. He enjoyed helping others, especially children and was a promoter of education. He was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Zona; four daughters, Bonnie Jean Mackey of Tucson, Pamela Kay Large of Pinetop, Thelma Fay Jackson of Kentucky and Martha May Vandemark of Show Low; three sons, Tommy Ray Weddle of Texas, Bart Allen Ikes of Alaska and Wesley Durant Weddle of Pinetop; two sisters, Billie Ruth Rhodes of Ft. Thomas and Jessie Reed of Oregon; a brother, Glen Weddle of Dewey; two half brothers, John Turney of Dewey and Charlie Turney of Globe; 35 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas Jr. and Jackie; a sister, Edna May Lankford; brothers Darvin and Henry Weddle and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, November 12, in the chapel at Black's Mortuary with Rev. Art Guenther officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
