| Peoria (IL) Journal-Star Tuesday, December 17, 1991 p D7 Gladys F Schifeling, 84, a resident of Phoenix, Ariz., for 37 years, formerly of Peoria, died at 10:36pm Saturday, Dec 14, 1991, at St Joseph's Care Center in Phoenix. Born July 15, 1907, in Chillicothe to Benjamin and Myrtle Story Coon, she married Herbert Schifeling in 1924 in Peoria. He died May 12, 1954, in Peoria. Three brothers also preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Herbert and John, both of Phoenix, and Richard of Peoria; five daughters, Virginia Zierke, Mrs Harry (Joanne) Freaner, and Mrs Gene (Valarie) Virgil, all of Peoria, Mrs Jean (Eunice) Birdoes and Mrs Loren (Beverly) Friday, both of Phoenix; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the 2nd Ward Republican Club and St Bernard's Mothers Club. Services will be at 10am Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Franciscan Friars will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery. Wright & Salmon Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to any charity. See Also: Find A Grave |
