Ruth (Ballmer) Coffey

Ruth Coffey (nee Ballmer) was born in Oak Harbor, Ohio on February 26, 1921 and moved to Santa Rita, NM at an early age. She grew up there and attended New Mexico Western in Silver City where she graduated after WWll.

In 1949 Ruth and her late husband, C. V. Coffey, moved to Ray, AZ where they raised four children and stayed in this area until 1995. During this period, they were both active in community affairs. Ruth taught high school English at the Ray District Schools for 12 years. Most of those years were during the 1970s.

In 1995 they moved to Tucson to be closer to family and doctors. Preceding her in death were her husband, C. V. Coffey, son, Jeffrey, and her three brothers, Ward, Ray, and Dale Ballmer. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Jane) and Robin, her daughter, Patricia Sirls, and her three grandchildren, Laura , Jeffrey, and Kevin Coffey.

A memorial service for Ruth, who passed away on Oct. 15, 2009, will be held at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1200 N Campbell Ave., Tucson, AZ on Saturday, Nov. 21, at 1 p.m.
