Frances G. (Fran) (Boone) Greer

Frances G. Greer, a decades-long powerhouse of the Yavapai County Republican Party, died Oct. 8, 2006. "Fran" was born on Sept. 5, 1918, in Ripley, Ohio, to Walter N. and F. Tamer Boone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Greer. Fran is survived by her sons, Charles Walter (Robin) of Henderson, Nev., and Dennis Walter (Claudia) of Long Beach, Calif.; a nephew, James Greer (Diane) of Spencer, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

For more than 40 years, Fran was widely respected and recognized for her participation in Arizona politics. During that time, she served as Chairman of the Yavapai County Republican Committee from 1990 through 1992, and worked on innumerable political campaigns for candidates to local, county, state and federal positions. Fran was also recognized numerous times by her peers for her work in the community and her political achievements, receiving manyhonors, including "Woman Of The Year" from the Arizona Republican Party in1992 and a lifetime achievement award from that Arizona Republican Party in 2004.

Fran had an iron will wrapped in a velvet touch. She was a remarkable woman who was adored by her family and friends and will truly be missed.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at the Hampton Funeral Home at 240 South Cortez St., in Prescott,and 10 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at United Methodist Church, 505 W.Gurley St., in Prescott. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at United Methodist Church, with Pastor Carol Mumford presiding.

Interment will follow in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott.
