Elvira (Vera) (Florez) Garcia

Elvira (Vera) Florez Garcia, a lifelong resident of Prescott, Ariz., born Aug. 16, 1918, went home to be with her Lord and passed quietly in her sleep on Oct. 9, 2006, in Phoenix, Ariz. She was raised in Prescott, Ariz., and married Carl AZ Garcia on Nov. 17, 1940. Carl preceded her in death in 2002.

Vera devoted her life to her family and friends, to whom she gave her unwavering and unconditional love. She will be greatly missed for her hospitality and loving ways. We will miss her sweetness, her smile, and gentle touch. She had a beautiful singing voice, joyous spirit, and loving heart. Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Carl, along with her mother, Inez Florez Perez; and brothers and sister, Manual Florez, Fred Perez, and Margie Duarte.


Vera is survived by her loving children, Charles Garcia (Patricia) of Phoenix, Yoli Bounds (Leo) of Prescott, and Valerie Stringer (Roy) of Prescott; her sister, Ruby Perez of Phoenix; and brother, Joseph Perez of Temecula, Calif.; her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, David Peterson, Charles Garcia Jr., Anthony Garcia, Roy Royce Stringer III, Raquel Stringer, and Toni Zuidema. Vera was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Gabriel Garcia and Rebekah and Mathew Zuidema.

There will be a graveside service for Vera at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott.

Interment services are entrusted to Hampton Funeral Home.
