Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, May 2, 1952 RITES HELD FOR T. J. STOREY, 92 Funeral services were held last Friday in Phoenix for Thomas Jefferson Storey, 92, oldest pioneer to attend the Arizona Pioneers' Reunion in that city April 5. He was the father of Mrs Mary Smtih who lives in the Ortega Trailer Court here. KNEW BILLY THE KID Mr Storey was born in Sherman, Texas, and came to Arizona in 1886, settling on a ranch near Tombstone. He knew Billy the Kid, famed western outlaw, and once when Mr Storey was guiding a group of Easterners to the West, Billy the Kid aided him in recovering the party's livestock which marauders had driven away.
