The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, November 17, 2009 Kenneth Warren Thomas, 85, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., born Jan. 29, 1924, in Elmwood Park, Ill., passed away Nov. 14, 2009, in Prescott. A Christian burial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center Chapel with full military honors. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Prescott National Cemetery. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home is assisting the family with final arrangements. ---------------------------------- Kenneth Warren Thomas 1/29/1924 - 11/14/2009 Kenneth W. Thomas, age 85, passed away on Nov. 14, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born on January 29, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., to Henry and Margaret Thomas. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Ann Thomas (Mazzulla) - Prescott Valley, AZ; daughters Kathryn Thomas-Medoff - (Michael D Medoff) Dewey, AZ. and Karen Thomas-Sheldon (deceased 2002) (Howard Sheldon) of Prescott Valley, grandchildren, Kayne, Wesley and Tamanie Sheldon, granddaughters Layla Sheldon and Shayla Cordova, countless nieces and nephews, one surviving brother John Bonneson and sister Joann Johnson. Having retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Kenneth Thomas moved to the Quad-City area in 1977 with his family and settled in Dewey, AZ later moving to Prescott Valley to be closer to his family. Ken served in the United States Navy in WWII from 1942 thru 1946. Ken was a member of both VFW Post #541 and American Legion Post #78 in Humboldt, AZ. He unselfishly volunteered many hours to veterans at the Prescott VA Hospital. Ken was a professional baker for the greater part of his life. He baked thousands of wedding cakes and various other baked goods for friends family and total strangers. Ken's banana cream pies are legendary in the Quad-City area. 
Ken was well known for his generosity and caring attitude that extended well beyond his immediate family. Many strangers that he met in his long life became like family members because they were drawn to his humorous, yet warm personality. He will be missed by friends, family, neighbors and acquaintances. Memorial services for Kenneth Thomas will be on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at 3:00 pm. at the VA Hospital Chapel, Prescott, AZ.
