The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, November 17, 2009 Nora "Bea" Orr passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009. She was 96. Born in Sharon, Okla., Bea moved to Phoenix in 1937 and began to raise her two children, Marie and Robert. Bea worked as a single parent, often working multiple jobs to make ends meet. In the summer of 1942, Bea moved her family to the small town of Mayer, Ariz., where she ran a successful café. Over the next few years, Bea's café satisfied the appetites of local residents, ranchers, trainmen, miners and tourists in and around Mayer. In 1945, Bea met and married her husband, Floyd Orr, a local rancher. Bea moved to the Triangle M ranch and together with Floyd they raised Marie and Robert, along with Floyd's three sons, Pat, Jim and Gary. In 1958, Bea and Floyd sold the ranch and moved to a home in Mayer on Big Bug Creek to enjoy their retirement. Bea and Floyd were married 43 years, until Floyd passed away in 1988. Bea moved to Cottonwood shortly thereafter to be closer to her children and remained in Cottonwood until her death. Bea is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Orr; daughter Marie Swift; and youngest son Gary Orr. Bea is survived by her sisters, Letha Tanner and Oleta (Lee) Jones; sons, Robert (Wanda) Biggs, James (Stella) Orr and Pat Orr; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may attend a viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave. in Prescott. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, with interment following at Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey. Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
