Mary Louise (Gordon) Fowler

Mary Louise Gordon-Fowler, age 90, formerly of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sun City West, Ariz., died Nov. 11, 2009, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born in 1919 in Washington D.C., the only child of Huntington Lee Gordon and Leila (Soverhill) Gordon.

Mary attended high school at Westown in Pennsylvania and Florida State College, where she majored in education. At a conference in Miami, Mary met Winston Fowler, better known as "Skip," who was a cadet at West Point at the time. They were married in New York in 1942 and lived a military life until his retirement as colonel in 1968.

Mary is survived by a son, Rob Fowler of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Skip passed away unexpectedly in October 2002. One son, Gordon, and one daughter, Marcia Green of England, preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Prescott. Committal service will be 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Church of the Advent in Sun City West.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary Fowler to the St. Luke's Episcopal Church outreach fund.

Hampton Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
