Watertown Daily Times, Watertown, New York August 22, 1990 Deceased Name: ELIZABETH C. MUNRO, FORMERLY OF CITY, DIES Elizabeth C. Munro, 90, Cottonwood, Ariz., formerly of Dexter and Watertown, a retired registered nurse, died Sunday evening in the Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital, Cottonwood. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Valley View Cemetery, Clarkdale, Ariz. Arrangements were with the Hepler Funeral Home, Camp Verde, Ariz. Surviving are a son, Millard "Jack" Brimmer, Dexter; a daughter, Jane Elizabeth Archer, Cottonwood, Ariz.; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Three brothers, Laclair, Augustus B. and Joseph L. Chidester, died previously. Born Dec. 1, 1899, in Syracuse, a daughter of Augustus Benjamin and Mary Hale Chidester, she was graduated from Dexter High School and the Syracuse Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She married Millard F. Brimmer in 1927, in Albany. The marriage ended in an annulment. She married James W. Munro on Aug. 31, 1952, in Asbury Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don R. Boyd officiating. The couple lived at 120 Flower Ave. E. for many years. Mrs. Munro was employed as a registered nurse before her second marriage. She worked in Syracuse and later for Dr. Robert P. Kilborn in Watertown. Mr. Munro owned and operated the Munro Advertising Agency in Watertown for 54 years before his retirement July 1, 1966. He was also chiefly responsible for founding what is now the Thompson Park Zoo. Mr. Munro died in October 1968, at the age of 93. Mrs. Munro moved to Arizona in 1974. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She had also been a volunteer at the House of the Good Samaritan and at the Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital, Cottonwood. |
