Juan Munoz Villarreal

Juan Munoz Villarreal, 81, of Winslow, died peacefully in his home Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009. Mr. Villarreal was born June 24, 1928.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and received two medals: The National Defense medal and the Army of Occupations medal (Germany). He was a heavy weapons infantryman (Company M, 6th Infantry). Mr. Villarreal was married in San Antonio, Texas, to his beloved wife, Sixta Gamez Villarreal. They moved to California with their daughter and three sons and later had another son in Riverside, Calif. Mr. Villarreal worked as a truck driver and auto mechanic. He retired to Winslow in 1995.

His hobbies were tinkering with cars and watching television with his coffee, sodas and candies. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle.

He is survived by his sons, Henry (Julie) Villarreal and Robert (Marky) Villarreal of Winslow; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sixta Villarreal; his daughter, Lupe Murillo; and sons Arthur Villarreal and Aurelio Villarreal.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m., at Norvel Owens Mortuary in Winslow. A reception will follow at Pentecostal Church of Christ, 109 Alder St.
