Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, February, 27, 1953 FUNERAL FOR "CHARLEY' DAVIS HELD SATURDAY IN BAKERSFIELD WHERE PIONEER OF OUR TOWN PASSED AWAY Funeral services were held in Bakersfield, Calif., last Saturday afternoon for Charles C. Davis, age 77, pioneer Wickenburg business man, who passed away at his home in that city Thursday, February 19. "Charley", as he was affectionately known by his many friends here, was born in Rushville, Ill., and came to Wickenburg in 1902. He worked for a time at the old Ore Grande mine and later operated a butcher shop where Pete's Market is now located. For the past several years he was associated with his brother, Jess, in the operation of the pool hall here. He sold his interests in the business to his brother in December and, with Mrs Davis, moved to Bakersfield in January. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Mrs Elsie Clark of Bakersfield, Mrs Myrtle Pacheo of San Francisco and Mrs Wanda Adams of Chino, Calif. Also four brothers, Jess, of Wickenburg, and Orom, Orson and Harry, all of Los Angeles. Three grandchildren also survive. |
