Father Of Chief Savage Summoned

Chief of Police RICHARD SAVAGE received word Monday of the death of his father, W. E. SAVAGE, which occurred at 8:30 o'clock that morning in East Chicago, Illinois, in the plant of the U. S. Gypsum Co., where Mr. Savage had been employed for the past 10 years.

Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Savage had previously been in excellent health. He was 69 years of age. A resident of Knox, Indiana,

Mr. Savage commuted daily between his home and his work in East Chicago.

Funeral Thursday -

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at the old home in Sullivan, Indiana.

Mr. Savage is survived by his I wife, Bertha and eight children:, Richard and Mrs. David CARTER of Wickenburg; Walter of Phoenix; Mrs. Addie HIGGINS, Bicknell, Ind.; Mrs. Jessie CLARK, Fairbanks, Ind.; Mrs. Rudy WILLETT, Connersville, Ind.; Harold of Sullivan and John of Knox. Twenty grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Savage visited in Wickenburg during World War II when is son Richard was with the Armed Forces in the South Pacific. The local police chief last visited his father in Knox a year ago last June.
