| William G. Whitfield, 77, of Mesa, a retired carpenter, died Jan. 13, 1999. He was born in Davenport, Iowa, and was an Army veteran. Survivors include his daughters, Karen Shiltz and Linda Beatty; sons, William and Donald; sister, Betty Slocum; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. No services are planned.
