Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ, Friday, July 13, 1951 MAN GOING BLIND DESPAIRS OF LIFE AND SHOOTS SELF EARLY SUNDAY MORNING "Gone blind, can't see, what's the use" read the note found beside the body of 89-year-old Lee Perkins Sunday morning. The aged man who came here seven weeks ago from Palm Springs lived in a trailer in the yard of Town Policeman Mr and Mrs John Mitchell. Early Sunday Mrs Mitchell took him for a ride and to buy some provisions. Then she and Mr Mitchell went to the Diamond G Ranch for a while and upon their return knocked at the trailer, got no response, opened the door and found the body. Coroner R. L. Westall said death was caused by a self-inflicted wound from a 32-20 Colt revolver. Mr Perkins had told Mrs Mitchell that he had no relatives and that his wife died three years ago. He had not, she said, complained to her about his vision. The body was taken to Phoenix for cremation. See Also: Arizona Genealogy Birth and Death Certificates |
