Delbert E. Hunter

Delbert E. Hunter, 21, of 1277 Harry Wise Road in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky died yesterday after being shot once in the chest at his home.

Mr. Hunter was shot at 3:45 a.m. and was taken to the University of
Kentucky Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:58 a.m. Another man, William S. Ward, 33, also of 1277 Harry Wise Road, was charged with first degree assault before Mr. Hunter died. State police at the Frankfort post said further charges were pending investigation and the outcome of an autopsy report.

Ward was held in the Anderson County Jail.

According to a report by the Fayette County coroner's office, Mr. Hunter was reportedly arguing with Ward when he was shot.

Police said a shotgun was found at the scene.

Mr. Hunter, a factory worker and native of Arizona, is survived by his father and stepmother, Raymond and Alexis Hodel Hunter of Lawrenceburg, KY; his mother, Lavena Williams of Arizona; two sisters, Tammy Hunter of Phoenix, and Erin Hunter of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Seth Hunter of Lawrenceburg; his maternal grandparents, Troy and Mayme Williams of Arizona; and his paternal grandmother, Dahlia Hunter of Arizona.

Ritchie-Peach-Todd Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held later.
