Donald Wayne Morris, 74, died Nov. 29, 1991, at Providence Hospital, Anchorage. A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at Greenlawn Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Morris was born March 12, 1917, in Bradford, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Bradford High School in 1937, then attended the Cleveland School of Technology. During World War II, he served as a staff sergeant with the Signal Corp of the Army, and was with Gen. Patton's backup corp on D-Day on Omaha Beach. He also served in the Rhineland before his release from active duty in July 1945. Mr. Morris received the American Defense Service Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. In 1952, he moved to Arizona and worked as a pressman for the Arizona Republic and the Phoenix Gazette until retiring in 1981. Mr. Morris and his family were founding members of Albright United Methodist Church in Phoenix. He moved to Anchorage in May and was a ham radio operator. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and was an amateur astronomer. He is survived by his sons, Tony and Phillip, of Anchorage, and Douglas of Venice, Calif.; his sisters, Claudia Smith of Prescott, Ariz., and Erla Hogue of Phoenix ; and his grandson, Christopher.
