Morse R. Waldorf, who worked as a chemist for Phelps Dodge Corp. in Morenci for 24 years, died Jan. 19, 1992. He was 86. Waldorf was born in Salt Lake City and his family lived in Dillon, Montana. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry from Montana State University in 1927 and 1932. He became an assay chemist for the Anaconda Copper Co. and worked in Great Falls, Mont. and in Chile. He joined Phelps Dodge in 1942 and moved with his family to Morenci, where he lived until he retired in 1966. He and his wife lived in Phoenix 24 years before they moved to Tucson in September 1990. Waldorf is survived by his wife, Frances Waldorf of Tucson; and sons Ron C. Waldorf of Lakeside, Lansing M. Waldorf of Tucson and Francis A. Waldorf of Morenci. He also is survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A memorial service was held Jan. 22, 1992. The Arizona Daily Star January 24, 1992 |
