West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona April 27, 2007 Morris Lee Heatherington, 82, of Tonopah died April 16, 2007. Mr. Heatherington was born Oct. 11, 1924, in Woodston, Kan., to Nora and Clarence Heatherington, and was raised in Lawrence, Independence and Iola, Kan. In 1943, he joined the Army Air Corps and flew 35 combat missions from England, over France, Germany and Yugoslavia. He earned an Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters, the European Theater Ribbon, an Air Force Gunnery Medal, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 10, 1945. Mr. Heatherington married his wife, Carolyn Marie Berrigan on June 16, 1946. He joined the Plumbers and Fitters Union on May 17, 1948, and worked across the United States. Mr. Heatherington is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn. Mr. Heatherington is survived by two daughters, Debbie Heatherington and Linda Lueck; two sons, Steve and Chris; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A service was held April 20 at Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road in Goodyear, which made the arrangements. |
