West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona February 23, 2007 Placido Berumen, 87, of Tolleson died Feb. 19, 2007, in Phoenix. Mr. Berumen was born March 16, 1919, in Metcalf. He worked as a metal foundry oven operator, and was a crossing guard for Tolleson Elementary School and a bell ringer and usher at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Tolleson. Mr. Berumen was preceded in death by his wife, Severita. He is survived by five daughters, Esther Hurtado, Emily Camacho, Gloria Welsh, Sally Visco and Josie Arrieta; four sons, Alfred, Alex, Jess and Placido Jr.; six sisters; 21 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 512 N. 93rd Ave. in Tolleson. The Rev. Michael Reinhardt and Deacon Antonio Chavez will officiate. Paradise Sunset Chapel Funeral Home in Phoenix made the arrangements. |
