The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Friday, January 3, 2003 Mildred (Millie) Burns of Phoenix Arizona peacefully passed away December 30, 2002 after a long and courageous battle against her illness. Millie was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 11, 1917 and enjoyed 85 years of her life. At age 16, she married Thomas Burns, her husband of 66 years, who preceded her in death. They lived in Cincinnati, Ohio before moving to Arizona in 1954. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Mildred is survived by her five children, Joan Selby, Jeannette Kansal, Diana Ligocki, Tony Burns and Timothy Burns; her siblings, Dorothy Lozier, James Hansmann, Harold, Ben and William Pierson, Robert Hansmann, Betty Beall, Erma Pieczonka, Ruby Moore and Patsy Hicks; her grandchildren, Thomas, Donna Lee and Daniel Selby, Steve, Diana, Joseph and Jennifer Latimore, Barbara Fleming, Anjali Kansal, Peggy and Kathy Ligocki, Kate, Bradley and Hayley Burns and Sahara Anne Marie Burns; by her great-grandchildren, Teresa, Brandon, Patricia and Kayleen Selby, Jason and Diana Peffly, Ian, Seth, Effie, Aiden, Emily and Collin Fleming, Christopher, Joshua and David Latimore, Jessica McDonald, and Kari Burns; her great-great-grandchildren Damian Walker, Jordan Fleming and Brandon Selby. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2003 at Royal Palms Baptist Church, 8802 N. 19th Ave., 10 a.m. Donations to the Arthritis Foundation of Arizona are accepted in lieu of flowers. |
