William J. (Big Bill) Caruth

William J. Caruth, 73, of Chandler joined his son David in heaven December 30th, 2002. William commonly known as "Big Bill" was born on February 6, 1929 in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Big Bill graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1948 and continued his education in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He owned a bowling alley in Ames, Iowa before moving his family to Mesa, Arizona in 1963.

In Arizona, "Big Bill" worked as District Sales Manager for Shamrock Dairy/Foods until 1968. From 1968 until the present, "Big Bill" was self employed in the paper and packaging business.

He loved his bowling and he bowled 2 nights a week and participated in state and national tournaments. He also had been active coaching Little League in West Mesa.

He is survived by Kathy Cornall, ex-wife Jane Caruth, sons, Bret (Lisa), Kinsey (Suzy), Michael (Arleen), daughters, Jackie Baker (Brad), Joelyn Davis (Rocky), Jeri Webb (Tom), Jeanette Understiller (Gary), Kelly (Duane), Tracy (Kevin), Bo (Shannon), Mark (Melissa) and 30 grandchildren.

A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 02, 2003 at Melcher's Chapel of the Roses Mortuary, 43 S. Stapley, Mesa, Arizona.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2003 at St. Mary's Church, 230 W. Galveston St., Chandler, Arizona.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Hemophilia Foundation, 4001 N. 24th St., Phoenix, Az., 85016.
